Rome, February 25th 2020. BaxEnergy and RES4Africa have officially formalized their cooperation with the purpose to create an enabling environment for renewable energy investments in African countries. The synergy will provide joint efforts in the production and development of sustainable energy, while creating shared value which is beneficial for local communities.
Africa is the second-largest and second-populous continent. It covers one fifth of the total land-surface of earth. From the ground to the highest mountains, Africa offers a rich variety of renewable energy sources, spanning from hydro, solar and wind. The current population of Africa is more than 1 million people and is expected to grow in the upcoming years, inevitably influencing energy demands. Half of African population still has no access to electricity.
RES4Africa was founded in 2019 after transitioning from FoundeRES4Med&Africa. The latter aimed at creating a network and collaboration among industries, agencies, technical services and institutes in order to develop clean energy solutions in Africa.
Specifically, RES4Africa’s mission is to increase the speed of renewable energy development in Africa, by drawing inspiration from the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which sets out 17 Sustainable Development Goals. With particular reference to Sustainable Development Goal 7, which defines the objective to “ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all”, thus recognizing the importance of power availability, making it a central point in its strategy.
Through the partnership, BaxEnergy is determined to support RES4Africa by providing more than 10 years of experience in developing turnkey solutions for industrial data collection and analysis, along with its knowledge in monitoring renewable power plants production cycle. The newborn partnership sets a common goal: increasing the share of renewable energy and supporting the expansion of infrastructure and cutting-edge technology in order to supply modern and sustainable energy services. Development and sustainability are just blueprints; to turn them into reality the joint effort of governments, stakeholders and partners is needed. BaxEnergy takes part in it by affirming the importance of energy not only as a commodity, but as a key-catalyst for sustainable growth.
