In the highly competitive software industry, incorporating certification into the workplace means introducing consistent, measurable and industry-recognized standards. Certifications recognize an employee’s accumulated training and experience, supporting the range of industry skills and knowledge they have acquired during their time on the job.
And, equally important, it means creating an enthusiast workforce.
At the beginning of the year, we asked ourselves what we could do to make BaxEnergy thrive both from a business and human point of view. The answer was quite simple and has been already summarized by Benjamin Franklin three centuries ago when he said that “an investment in knowledge pays the best interest”.
So, we started to ask our team members which certification or subject they desired to delve into and we covered the full cost of training.
Certifications and cross-team working
Our team members had the chance to choose any certification they’d like, with no constraint imposed by their current job role, so to keep growing and expanding their skills. Beside getting a certification, our team members are continuously offered a wide range of opportunities to expand their skills, take on new challenges, and develop professionally within the business.
Some of the certifications gained so far are from Microsoft, AWS, Python and 24ORE Business School.
Our team members received the Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, Azure Cloud Infrastructure certifications and Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies.
The Azure Developer Associate certification validates the knowledge and skills to design, build, test, and maintain applications and services on the cloud and on-premises. The Azure Cloud Infrastructure certification confirms our team members possess high skills in managing cloud services that span storage, security, networking, and compute cloud capabilities. Through the Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies, our Solution Engineers improved their knowledge in how to translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.
Amazon Web Services Certifications
Some of our team member decided to deepen their skills and knowledge of Amazon Web Services. The certifications which have been gained so far are AWS Certified Developer – Associate and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
The first demonstrates proficiency in developing, deploying, and debugging cloud-based applications using AWS. The latter helps develop critical knowledge related to implementing cloud initiatives, validating Cloud fluency and foundational AWS knowledge.
Our developers strengthened their expertise in programming through the Certified Python Developer certification. The achievement reflects wide programming skills and experience in Python and related technologies. The certification demonstrates familiarity and proficiency in Creating and Distributing Packages, Design Patterns, IPC, Network Programming, and Python-MySQL Database Access, thus proving our team members have acquired the highest level of expertise in Python.
Project Management & Agile
As collaborations intensify, project management gains a growing strategic-organizational importance. This is why many of our engineers and developers chose to delve into a Project Management & Agile course. Project Management is focused on effectiveness, i.e. on achieving specific results – quality of results, compliance with deadlines, cost containment – to meet the expectations of end users, and on the transversality of processes to maximize individual and innovative contributions.
Management and Leadership Skills Certifications
Being a leader is an innate gift, but that doesn’t mean a specific training can’t make it even better. That’s why some of our team members decided to engage in a Management and Leadership training. Thanks to those certifications our teams are even more engaged and empowered in their daily tasks, applying “lean management”, problem-solving and process improvement in everything they do.
