During the first official visit in Sicily, Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni together with the President of the Region of Sicily, Rosario Crocetta, the Mayor of Catania Enzo Bianco, the CEO and General Manager of Enel Group Francesco Starace and Enel Green Power Chief Executive Officer Francesco Venturini have met Dr. Simone Massaro, CEO of BaxEnergy, pioneer company in the renewable energy sector and close partner of ENEL for the creation of the new Innovation Lab in Passo Martino (Catania). In this occasion, Premier Gentiloni has experienced the latest cutting-edge technologies developed by BaxEnergy for the real-time monitoring and remote control of ENEL’s renewable power plants.

The Innovation Lab aims at becoming a flagship campus to stimulate energy sector’s research and innovation and BaxEnergy with its work has given a tangible proof of how Italy can become a protagonist of the new digital economy and Industry 4.0.
During the visit, Dr. Simone Massaro has shown to the Prime Minister the Worldwide Monitoring Room designed for Enel to monitor 1000+ power plants Worldwide; the technology for integration of battery storage; the next-gen of industrial HUD platform for augmented reality and the new devices designed for the smart-home of the future.
“The development of renewable energy sources and the use of new digital systems are the key to staying at the cutting edge of an energy sector undergoing rapid change,” said Enel CEO Francesco Starace in occasion of the visits of the Prime Minister Gentiloni.
